Welcome to Inman Park Cooperative Preschool

Nestled in the heart of Inman Park, IPCP is more than just a preschool—it’s a community where children learn through play, caregivers feel supported, and families build meaningful relationships that last far beyond the early years.

Our cooperative model means teachers and parents work together to create a joyful, nurturing environment. If you're looking for a child-led, relationship-centered school with deep community roots, you’re in the right place.

Admissions Process

When you join Inman Park Cooperative Preschool, you become part of a supportive community for the whole family. We want every family to thrive in our environment and ensure it’s the right fit for you. If you haven’t already, please review each tab of A Day at IPCP and the Cooperative Commitment. The admissions process for the 2026-2027 school year will include the following steps:

  • Register for one of our upcoming open houses. Open houses are the very best way to experience the warmth, partnership, and joy of our co-op community. Due to the content covered and the format of these meetings, all sessions are for adults only. You’ll meet teachers, talk with current families, explore classrooms, and learn how the cooperative model supports children and caregivers alike:

    • Saturday, January 10, 2026: Open House, 10am-12pm

    • Sunday, January 25, 2026: Open House, 10am-12pm

    • Thursday, January 29, 2026: Open House, 6:30pm-8:30pm

  • Submit your application by Monday, February 2, 2026.

  • If selected, attend an in-person interview between March 7-15, 2026.

  • Receive your admission decision by April 1, 2026.

Please note that all applications require a $100 fee, which is non-refundable. The application opens December 15, and applications will be reviewed in February.

Important Notes About Our Application Process

Applications are reviewed in February, and are considered for the following school year only. We are not currently planning to review on a rolling basis for the 2026-2027 school year.

  • Prospective parent interviews are held in person, with limited Zoom availability for special circumstances.

  • Classroom availability varies each year based on re-enrollment, sibling enrollment, and the selected days for each family. We do not have projected availability of spots until late March.

  • Ensure your child is old enough to join our community for this upcoming school year. Refer to the age requirements below.

We look forward to getting to know you and your family!

Age Requirements

For the 2026-27 school year, children must turn 1-year-old by September 1, 2026. Our classes are divided by age group:

  • 1-year-olds (born Sept 1, 2024 – Aug 31, 2025)

  • 2-year-olds (born Sept 1, 2023 – Aug 31, 2024)

  • Multi-age preschool for 3-5 year olds

The state of Georgia uses a September 1 cutoff date for eligibility to enter Pre-K (age 4) and Kindergarten (age 5).

Class Size / Teacher Ratio

IPCP maintains small class sizes to ensure maximum attention is paid to each child. Student-to-teacher ratios are maintained as follows:

  • 11 to 2 for the one-year-old class

  • 16 to 3 for two-year-old classes

  • 12 to 2 for preschool classes

In addition, Parent Helpers are in the following classrooms each day:

  • Toddler 1 class (1 Parent Helper is always in this class)

  • Toddler 2 class (1 Parent Helper is always in this class)

  • Preschool classes (1 Parent Helper is shared between each pair of classes)
